Value is a very confusing element. It has many facets. It is at a time both subjective and complicated. The most challenging question that can be asked is ‘how would you define your values’. To answer this question, it is important to understand what, in general, values are. Any attempt without that is definitely a big mistake.In simple terms, your values are the things that you think are crucial in the manner you live and work. Normally, it influences almost everything, including decision-making. Sometimes, it even acts like an indicator to prevent backlash.It decides your priorities, and even determines your way of thoughts. Value is directly linked to happiness. It has a deep relation with joy. In simple words, when the things that you do and the way you behave match your values, life is usually good. In other words, when the things that you do and the way you behave don’t align with your personal values, you embrace wrong. As you know, wrong is a pure negativity. It naturally paves way for unhappiness. It is why making a sincere attempt to comprehend your values is extremely crucial. It does not matter whether you recognise it or not. Value does exist. If you recognise this reality, your life will become smoother. The more you ignore, the more terrible your life becomes.When even you take decisions, make sure you respect your values. Don’t take decisions which contradict your values. Those decisions which agree with your values are the only ones which can take you to ultimate happiness – others can only lead you to unhappiness. Think! You are a person who value family and your job allows you only few hours to spend with your family. Will you be happy with the job? Or, suppose! You are a person who does not value competition, and you end up as a sales executive. Will you be happy? Definitely, your answer will be ‘no’.

Understanding yours values makes it easier for you to handle complicated questions. It makes decision making process simple, as it naturally brings clarity in thoughts.

What job should I study?

Should I accept this reward?

Should I take a different path?

Should I compromise, or be firm in my stand?

Should I follow my traditional path, or accept a new path?

The aforementioned ones are few complicated questions. In a normal circumstance, it is difficult to answer these questions. But once you recognise your values, it becomes easy for you to confront these complicated queries.

Anyway, take the time to understand the real values in your life, and you’ll be able to determine the best direction for you and your life goals.
